Loss Prevention Clerk – Costco – NW Toronto, ON
Location: Ontario | Company: Costco Wholesale
Costco’s warehouse on Islington Ave in NW Toronto, Ontario is looking for a Loss Prevention Clerk to help protect company assets and maintain a safe environment for staff and members alike. If you have a solid background in loss prevention, a working knowledge of Canadian law, and the kind of sharp observational instincts that make a real difference on the floor, this could be the right fit for you.
Day to day, this role puts you at the centre of asset protection operations at the warehouse level. You’ll be walking the floor and perimeter, monitoring for safety and security concerns, identifying potential theft — both external and internal — and working closely with warehouse management and regional loss prevention to address issues as they arise. It’s a role that demands professionalism, discretion, and strong communication skills.
About the Role: Loss Prevention Clerk
As a Loss Prevention Clerk, your primary focus is safeguarding the warehouse against theft and shrink. You’ll conduct floor patrols, observe customer and staff behaviour, and take appropriate action when theft is suspected — including detaining and interviewing shoplifters when warranted. You’ll also prepare documentation and maintain evidence files that may be used in potential prosecutions.
Beyond the frontline security work, this role involves collaboration and communication — whether that’s reporting internal dishonesty concerns to the Warehouse Manager, sharing intelligence with other Costco Loss Prevention Clerks in the area, or coaching warehouse team members on loss prevention policies and procedures. Familiarity with the Criminal Code of Canada, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the Trespass Act, and relevant Privacy Acts is essential to carrying out these duties lawfully and effectively.
