About the Role: Assistant Team Leader

As an Assistant Team Leader at Dollarama Calgary, you’ll share responsibility for the day-to-day running of the store alongside the management team. That means handling cash management, overseeing store opening and closing procedures, ensuring staff breaks are scheduled properly, and stepping in as manager on duty when needed. You’ll also play a role in training new employees and making sure everyone is working toward the same standards.

The environment is high-volume and moves quickly, so strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure are essential. You’ll be expected to uphold store safety and cleanliness standards consistently, and your communication skills will be put to good use when resolving customer concerns or coordinating with your team.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Team Leader role covers a wide range of store duties, from operations support to direct customer interaction. You’ll be an important link between frontline staff and store management, helping to maintain standards and keep things moving efficiently throughout each shift.

• Assist management in overseeing daily store operations and staff coordination
• Process shipments by boxing and unboxing daily deliveries in a timely manner
• Stock shelves with daily products in compliance with presentation standards
• Deliver customer service and resolve customer issues professionally
• Uphold safety and cleanliness standards throughout the store at all times
• Perform manager-on-duty tasks, including tracking attendance and ensuring breaks are taken as scheduled
• Handle cash management and carry out store opening and closing duties as required
• Support employee training by participating in the onboarding and development process

Requirements / Skills

Dollarama is looking for someone who can lead by example and keep a busy retail team on track. The ideal candidate brings solid retail experience, a customer-first mindset, and the flexibility to work varied shifts throughout the week.

• Retail experience: approximately one (1) year of relevant experience in the retail industry
• Supervisory experience: approximately one (1) year in a leadership or supervisory role
• Flexible availability required, including day, evening, and weekend shifts
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and priorities effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for working with both customers and team members
• Leadership and teamwork skills that contribute to a positive store environment
