Responsibilities
The day-to-day work of a Cashier Assistant keeps Costco’s front end operating at its best. You’ll be constantly moving — supporting cashiers, assisting members, and ensuring the checkout experience is efficient and pleasant from start to finish.
- Greet members and assist them in loading orders onto the conveyor belt, determining packing preferences and answering questions
- Pack member orders into boxes and load them onto a separate cart or flatbed for easy transport
- Inspect packaging for signs of tampering and follow all safety and security procedures
- Run for items such as merchandise, boxes, register supplies, and item numbers as requested by cashiers to keep lines moving
- Transfer items not on the belt to a separate cart or flatbed as cashiers scan them, following proper departmental procedures
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front end, addressing spills and trip hazards immediately
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking lot using a rope with clasping hook, keeping the lot free of debris and sweeping in front of the building
- Perform set-up and closing duties including returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking registers, and cleaning the area
- Operate mechanical trash compactor and cardboard bailer as needed
- Support cashiers during various promotions and assist in other areas of the warehouse as required
Requirements / Skills
