About the Role: Sr. Electrical Engineer, Automated Test Equipment

Responsibilities

This role spans the full lifecycle of automated test equipment development — from initial architecture through validation and continuous improvement. You’ll be deeply involved in both the technical design and the cross-functional coordination required to keep Tesla’s production lines running at scale.

  • Architect fully automated testing machinery from first principles, optimizing for cost, lead time, complexity, and test coverage
  • Develop detailed test specifications and execution plans, and mentor junior engineers on subsystem design and implementation
  • Research, specify, and integrate electrical test equipment including measurement tools, power supplies, sensors, and I/O devices
  • Design and review NFPA79/NEC/UL508A-compliant industrial electrical control panels
  • Implement and validate OSHA- and ISO-compliant industrial safety systems for high-voltage and mechanical hazards
  • Debug and optimize automated processes to improve reliability, reduce cycle time, and maximize uptime
