About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at Costco Edmonton, you’ll be responsible for the full cycle of tire service — from greeting members and assessing their vehicles to performing installations, rotations, balancing, and flat repairs. You’ll operate equipment like impact guns, hydraulic hoists, wheel balancers, and TPMS reset tools, all in accordance with Tire Industry Association (TIA) and American Lift Institute standards.

Responsibilities

The Tire Installer role at Costco Edmonton covers a wide range of day-to-day duties inside the Tire Centre. You’ll be expected to work efficiently, follow established safety protocols, and maintain a courteous, professional attitude with members throughout every interaction.

  • Install, balance, and rotate tires using proper equipment including impact guns, hydraulic hoists, and wheel balancers in compliance with TIA R.I.S.T. and American Lift Institute standards
  • Reset and relearn TPMS sensors using Costco-supplied tools as required for each vehicle
  • Inspect vehicles for body damage upon arrival and document findings on the service order before beginning any work
  • Repair flat tires for members according to established Tire Industry Standards
  • Assist members in selecting tires, answering questions, and making product recommendations using the 5 steps of selling
  • Process transactions accurately, including tire purchases, service invoices, warranty returns, and payments by cash, cheque, credit, or debit
  • Stock, tag, and organize tires on the sales floor and in steel storage in accordance with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
  • Perform 40KM torque checks and alert the manager or lead for 10-point checks and vehicle release authorization
  • Maintain cleanliness of the install bay and sales area through regular sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping
  • Assist with propane refills at applicable locations once provincially certified, following all required safety procedures

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment. Strong communication skills and a member-first attitude are just as important as technical know-how in this role.

  • Valid driver’s licence is required to drive member vehicles in and out of the service bay and lot
  • Costco Tire certification — candidates must pass the internal certification test (training provided)
  • Previous tire installation or tire sales experience is preferred and will be given priority consideration
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Propane certification (provincial PP0-3 and TDG Certification from PTI 100-11 program) required for locations offering propane services
  • Bilingual in French and English (oral and written) is required for positions at Quebec locations
