About the Role: Ocean Freight Pricing Specialist
As a Pricing Specialist, your core mandate is to manage and maintain bi-weekly and monthly ocean freight rate cards for the Trans-Pacific Eastbound (TPEB) and Transatlantic trade lanes. You’ll prepare competitive spot quotations, monitor carrier rate movements, and develop pricing strategies that balance win rates with profitability. The role reports directly to the Ocean Freight Pricing Manager and functions out of the YYZ area.
Beyond the numbers, this role has a strong commercial and relationship-building dimension. You’ll engage directly with customers to understand their supply chain needs, collaborate with internal stakeholders on strategic accounts, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives — including automation and process optimization efforts that sharpen pricing responsiveness across the organization.

Responsibilities
This role spans four key areas: pricing management, spot quotation handling, commercial and customer engagement, and continuous improvement. Each day will call on your analytical skills and market knowledge to keep DHL’s pricing competitive while supporting business growth across major trade lanes.
- Manage and maintain monthly and bi-weekly rate cards for TPEB and Transatlantic trade lanes
- Monitor market trends, carrier rate movements, and industry changes to keep pricing competitive and current
- Review and update pricing strategies in response to evolving market conditions and business objectives
- Analyze profitability and margin performance to support sustainable revenue growth
- Prepare and issue accurate, timely spot quotations for ocean freight opportunities, evaluating customer requirements and shipment characteristics
- Follow up on quotations and analyze win/loss results to identify areas for improvement and increase conversion rates
- Partner with Sales to develop pricing strategies for key accounts and strategic opportunities
- Engage with customers to understand supply chain requirements, business objectives, and service expectations
- Maintain pricing databases and ensure data accuracy and consistency across all tools and reporting
- Support automation and process optimization initiatives to enhance pricing efficiency and responsiveness
