About the Role: Order Picker

As an Order Picker at the Costco Business Centre, your primary responsibility is fulfilling high-volume wholesale orders with speed and precision. You’ll obtain pick tickets from the control desk, scan them with a wearable hand scanner, and navigate the warehouse to select the correct items and quantities. Every pull must be verified for accuracy and condition before being moved to the audit area.

This role also involves coordinating with forklift drivers for large-quantity orders and spotting to maintain a safe fall-danger zone. You’ll pack cooler and freezer items, enter quantities and weights into the scanner, note substitutions and out-of-stock items, and ultimately load completed orders onto delivery trucks. Safe lifting techniques and adherence to all warehouse safety protocols are non-negotiable parts of the job.

Responsibilities

The Order Picker role at Costco’s Business Centre is built around precision and efficiency. You’ll be responsible for assembling wholesale orders accurately, operating warehouse equipment safely, and ensuring every delivery is loaded correctly and on time. Here’s what a typical shift looks like:

• Pull merchandise from floor stock to fulfil high-volume Business Centre orders based on pick tickets
• Operate a manual pallet jack to transport pallets throughout the warehouse and load delivery trucks
• Scan pick tickets using a wearable hand scanner to locate items and confirm correct quantities
• Verify each pull to ensure the correct item, quantity, and condition before moving to the audit area
• Coordinate with forklift drivers to retrieve full pallets from steel shelves for large-quantity orders, and spot to maintain fall-danger zone safety
• Pack cooler and freezer items into coolers for temperature-sensitive order fulfilment
• Enter quantities and weights into the wearable hand scanner, noting approved substitutions and out-of-stock items
• Check inventory systems for any items not immediately located on the floor
• Follow all safety and security procedures, including inspecting manual pallet jacks and pallets and tagging defective equipment
• Provide prompt and courteous member service and assist in other areas of the Picking department or Business Centre as needed

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate for this Order Picker position is detail-oriented, physically capable, and comfortable working in a high-volume warehouse environment. Costco values reliability, safety awareness, and the ability to follow established procedures consistently. • High School Diploma or GED preferred as a baseline educational background
• Costco Food Safety Certification – Level 1 required on the first day in the position
• Costco Operation of Electric Pallet Jack Certification is considered an asset

• Math skills are required for accurately entering quantities and weights into scanning systems
• Computer skills are preferred for checking inventory systems
