About the Role: Optician / Contact Lens Practitioner (Licensed)

As a Licensed Optician at Costco Edmonton, your day-to-day will revolve around helping members find the right eyewear solutions. You’ll assist members in selecting frames, lenses, contact lenses, and sunglasses, measure pupillary distance, determine multi-focal and bifocal heights, and use a slit lamp to assess ocular health and assist with contact lens fittings. Beyond direct member service, you’ll also play a supervisory role by overseeing apprentices and students working toward their certification. Keeping the department clean, well-stocked, and compliant with provincial licensing standards is equally important. Maintaining your provincial licence in good standing is a requirement of the position — and any optician without contact lens fitter accreditation at the time of hire must enrol in the relevant course within one year.
