Network Deployment Technician – Amazon – Balzac, AB
Location: Calgary, AB | Company: Amazon
Based out of Balzac, Alberta, this Network Deployment Technician role with Amazon Web Services (AWS) puts you at the heart of building and maintaining one of the world’s most expansive cloud computing infrastructures. If you’re the kind of person who thrives on hands-on technical work and wants to be part of the team that literally keeps the cloud running, this could be a strong fit.
Day to day, you’ll be working across data centre and colocation sites throughout the Americas, installing and configuring network hardware, troubleshooting cabling issues, and leading small to mid-size network deployment projects. About the Role: Network Deployment Technician
As part of the AWS Infrastructure Services team, you’ll be responsible for the physical and technical side of network capacity delivery. This means getting hands-on with routers, switches, DWDM hardware, fibre optic and copper cabling, and working closely with colocation partners and internal teams to bring new capacity online. You’ll also conduct site audits, improve operational processes, and help resolve outside plant (OSP) connectivity issues.
The position requires a solid understanding of data centre environments, including racking and stacking gear, cable management, and hot/cold aisle containment. You’ll need to be comfortable lifting and racking equipment up to 40 lbs, working in elevated locations or confined spaces, and always adhering to health and safety guidelines. Strong communication is essential — you’ll be providing regular status updates to stakeholders and building relationships with remote teams across the organization.
