As a Data Center Engineering Operations Manager at AWS, you will be responsible for leading managers across multiple functional areas — from facility managers and engineering operations managers to compute and security operations managers. Your scope includes new data centre build-outs, co-location expansions, preventive and corrective maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, and ongoing vendor management for co-location service providers. Benefits and Salary

The base salary for this position in Airdrie, AB ranges from $130,300 to $187,700 CAD annually. As part of Amazon’s total compensation package, this may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and a range of resources to support overall health and well-being.

This role covers a broad scope of operational leadership — from staffing and team development to infrastructure maintenance and incident management.   • Hiring and developing an operations management team including compute, engineering, logistics, and security operations managers
  • Driving attainment of organizational performance goals related to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency
  • Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data centre build-outs, expansions, and co-location projects, including server hardware install, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Overseeing operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems, including preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management
  • Managing vendors for co-location data centre services to ensure contracted SLAs are met or exceeded
  • Leading incident response, incident management, and incident resolution for safety, security, and availability events
  • Driving continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools across the organization

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in data centre operations and facilities management, with a proven track record of leading large, distributed teams through complex infrastructure challenges.   • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field
  • 5+ years as a manager of managers, leading multi-tier leadership teams
  • 10+ years of experience managing data centre operations, facility engineering, critical environments, or build-outs
  • 5+ years delivering complex projects with a demonstrated track record of results
  • Autonomous management of geographically distributed infrastructure teams for 5+ years
  • Fluency in both French and English (required for global and provincial Amazon interactions)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada
