Wellness WHS Specialist – Amazon – Acheson, AB

Amazon’s Workplace Health & Safety team is looking for a Wellness WHS Specialist to join their fulfillment centre in Acheson, Alberta. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of ergonomics, injury prevention, and associate wellbeing — ideal for someone with a background in athletic therapy, kinesiology, physiotherapy, or human kinetics who wants to make a tangible difference in how people move and feel at work.

Working directly within an Amazon Fulfillment Centre and reporting to the Site WHS Manager, this position combines data-driven risk assessment with one-on-one coaching to help associates develop safer physical movement habits before soreness or injury ever sets in. About the Role: Wellness WHS Specialist

The core of this position is proactive injury prevention. You’ll analyse injury trends and workplace data to design targeted ergonomic interventions, conduct comprehensive worksite evaluations, and translate complex findings into practical, actionable strategies. Rather than responding to incidents after the fact, you’ll be the person identifying and eliminating hazards before they cause harm.

Beyond analysis, you’ll play a key role in building a culture of health and safety awareness across the site. This means developing and delivering engaging ergonomic training programs, coaching associates one-on-one, and partnering with operations teams to embed prevention into daily workflows. First aid certification (Standard First Aid Level A or C from a WSIB-approved authority, or equivalent for your province) must be obtained within three weeks of your start date.

Benefits and Salary

This full-time position offers a base salary range of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD per hour. As part of Amazon’s total compensation approach, the package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll split your time between fieldwork on the fulfillment centre floor and data analysis at a strategic level. Whether you’re coaching an associate on lifting technique or presenting injury trend findings to the WHS Manager, the common thread is a commitment to keeping people safe and healthy. Here’s what the day-to-day looks like:

• Lead proactive injury prevention by conducting advanced data analysis and translating injury trends into evidence-based ergonomic interventions
• Perform comprehensive workplace evaluations to identify and eliminate potential hazards before they cause associate harm
• Deliver one-on-one coaching to associates, focusing on improving physical movement techniques prior to the onset of soreness or injury
• Develop and facilitate ergonomic training programs that empower associates to make informed decisions about their own wellbeing
• Build partnerships with operations teams to integrate prevention strategies and wellness education into daily workflows
• Create sustainable behaviour change through personalized coaching and positive reinforcement techniques
• Maintain first aid readiness and assist with emergency response at the site when required
• Work across variable shift conditions, including environments with fluctuating noise levels, temperatures, and outdoor loading areas

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a candidate with a strong academic foundation in a relevant health science discipline and a genuine interest in occupational wellness. Someone who thrives in a fast-paced industrial environment, communicates confidently with frontline workers and leadership alike, and has the analytical mindset to back their recommendations with data will be well-suited for this role.

• Bachelor’s degree or above in athletic therapy, human kinetics, physiotherapy, ergonomics, or kinesiology — required
• First aid certification appropriate to your province (Alberta: Standard First Aid Level A or C; BC: Intermediate First Aid via WorkSafe BC; Ontario: Standard First Aid Level A or C via WSIB-approved authority) — must be obtained within 3 weeks of start date
• Physical capability to lift up to 49 pounds and perform frequent pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, and reaching; stand or walk for up to 12 hours per shift
• Experience with an industrial wellness program — preferred
• Experience in an occupational or industrial setting — preferred
• Experience working with cross-functional teams — preferred
