About the Role: Data Center Technician

As a Data Center Technician, your core focus will be maintaining the availability and reliability of AWS infrastructure. That means responding to high-severity events within defined SLAs, performing hands-on hardware and network repairs, and participating in on-call rotations as part of your shift schedule. You’ll install equipment, create documentation, and develop solutions to issues that arise inside the data centre environment.

Working in a 24/7 data centre environment requires strong organizational skills, the ability to establish priorities under pressure, and effective communication across teams. You’ll be expected to build relationships with various data centre groups and interact professionally with third-party vendors and contractors. Candidates must also be able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Personnel Security Clearance as a condition of employment, which requires at least five years of continuous Canadian residency.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be the hands-on presence that keeps AWS data centre infrastructure operational around the clock. From responding to critical incidents to performing routine maintenance and repairs, your work directly supports the reliability that AWS customers depend on globally.   • Provide onsite coverage as part of a team through shift-based scheduling and weekly on-call rotations
  • Respond to high-severity events within defined service level agreements to minimize downtime

  • Perform break-fix of servers and network devices, including hands-on hardware diagnostics and repair
  • Troubleshoot network connections and resolve connectivity issues within the data centre environment

  • Ability to work independently and in a team in a 24/7 shift environment, including on-call coverage
