About the Role: Manager, AI Risk & Compliance
The AI Risk & Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that AI solutions developed and deployed at Canadian Tire are built in alignment with ethical principles, enterprise governance standards, and applicable regulatory requirements. You’ll lead risk assessments, oversee compliance reviews, and maintain AI risk registers while partnering with teams across Privacy, Security, Legal, and the broader business.
This role requires someone who can communicate clearly with both technical teams and senior leadership, translating complex AI risk concepts into actionable insights and governance reporting. You’ll also play a key part in shaping and continuously improving the frameworks and standards that guide how AI is used across the organization.
Benefits and Salary
Canadian Tire offers a broadband salary range of $80,000 to $131,000 for this role, with final compensation determined by experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be the key steward of AI risk and compliance across the enterprise. Your work will directly influence how AI solutions are governed at every stage of their lifecycle, ensuring that innovation at Canadian Tire proceeds responsibly and with confidence from stakeholders at all levels.
- Lead AI risk assessments, risk tiering, and governance approval processes across the organization
- Review AI solutions for compliance with enterprise policies, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
- Monitor AI risks, control effectiveness, and compliance status throughout the model lifecycle
- Partner with Privacy, Security, Legal, Risk, and business teams to identify and mitigate AI-related risks
- Maintain AI risk registers and oversee remediation activities to address identified gaps
- Develop reporting and insights on AI risk posture for governance committees and senior leadership
- Support the development and continuous improvement of AI governance frameworks, standards, and practices
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in risk management or compliance combined with a working understanding of AI and machine learning concepts. - 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, audit, governance, or a closely related field
- Working knowledge of AI, machine learning, and generative AI concepts and their associated risks
- Experience applying regulatory, risk, or control frameworks within a complex organization
- Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Experience with AI governance, model risk management, privacy, or security practices is considered an asset
