About the Role: WHS Specialist

As a WHS Specialist, you’ll lead comprehensive safety programs through data-driven strategies, conducting daily audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations. You’ll implement innovative solutions designed to prevent injuries before they happen, and deliver engaging safety training that resonates with associates and builds a proactive safety culture across the site.

Beyond the technical side, this role is about people and culture. You’ll act as a trusted advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing, developing strong partnerships with both frontline workers and leadership. Through effective coaching, communication, and positive reinforcement, you’ll help make safe behaviours second nature across the operation. This role also requires physical readiness — you’ll be on your feet, climbing stairs, working in variable environments, and occasionally lifting up to 49 pounds.

Benefits and Salary

This full-time position offers a base salary range of $31.10 to $40.38 CAD per hour, with final compensation determined by experience, qualifications, and location. As part of Amazon’s total compensation approach, the package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). As the WHS Specialist, your work will span two core areas: safety program execution and cultural leadership. From the moment you step onto the floor, you’ll be identifying risks, coaching associates, and translating safety data into meaningful action. • Lead daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments to proactively identify and eliminate hazards
• Implement data-driven safety strategies and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce injury rates and improve operational efficiency
• Deliver engaging safety training programs that resonate with frontline associates and promote a proactive safety mindset
• Serve as a safety advocate for associate wellbeing, building trusted relationships across all levels of the organization
• Coach and influence behavioural change through positive reinforcement, communication, and frontline engagement
• Translate safety data into compelling narratives that drive leadership engagement and support continuous improvement
• Work flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends as required to support operations
• Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing or walking for up to 12 hours, and navigating variable temperature environments

• High school diploma or equivalent required as a minimum education qualification
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910, is required
• Minimum 1 year of EHS experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in an EHS-relevant field, OR 6 months performing a safety-related role within Amazon
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional setting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality around security and personnel matters in the workplace
• Strong communication, teamwork, and analytical skills are preferred, along with experience leading teams and conducting job hazard analyses
• Experience in emergency response and current First Aid and CPR certification are considered an asset
• Worker’s compensation case management experience is a preferred qualification
