This role is central to facilitating the rapid clearance of commercial and personal goods through the CLVS (Courier Low Value Shipment) Program. You’ll be preparing, submitting, and managing customs documentation on behalf of importers — keeping shipments moving and compliance on point across a fast-paced express logistics operation.

About the Role: LVS Analyst

The LVS Analyst is responsible for end-to-end customs entry management within the CLVS threshold. Day-to-day tasks include data entry in ITMR, customs rating of LVS entries, classifying dutiable import/export shipments, and computing duties, tariffs, and weight or volume of imported and exported merchandise. You’ll also examine clearance invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documents to ensure full compliance with federal regulations and government agency rules.

Beyond data entry and classification, this position requires a working knowledge of SIMA compliance, Canadian surtaxes on U.S.-origin goods, and pending customs policy changes. You’ll coordinate with internal and external clients to obtain documentation, monitor and prepare LVS Preferred Accounts, and audit entries — all while hitting performance targets like 15 Entries Per Hour (EPH) with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

As an LVS Analyst at DHL Express, your work directly impacts the speed and accuracy of shipment clearance across Canada. You’ll be handling a high volume of time-sensitive entries daily, which means strong organizational habits and a commitment to customs compliance are essential from day one.

  • Enter and rate LVS entries accurately within ITMR on a daily basis
  • Classify dutiable import/export shipments in accordance with government agency rules and regulations
  • Compute duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight, and volume of imported and exported merchandise
  • Examine clearance invoices, bills of lading, and shipping documents for federal regulatory compliance
  • Adjust and audit LVS entries to maintain accuracy and a low error ratio
  • Monitor and prepare LVS Preferred Accounts to support key client relationships
  • Contact internal and external clients to obtain required documentation
  • Ensure compliance with SIMA and Canadian surtaxes on specific U.S.-origin goods
  • Stay current on customs regulations, CBSA policies, and pending agency rule changes
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet KPIs and processing deadlines within a fast-paced team environment

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in customs brokerage or international trade, paired with strong data entry skills and a thorough understanding of the Canadian Customs Tariff. DHL values accuracy under pressure — candidates who can process entries with speed and precision will stand out. Note that the hiring process includes a test on HS code classification and the application of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma required as a baseline credential
  • Two years of international trade/transportation and customs coursework from a community college, OR two years of rating experience in a customs brokerage company
  • Proficient data entry skills with strong verbal, written, and organizational abilities
  • Microsoft Office/365 proficiency including Excel, Word, Teams, and Outlook
  • Experience with customs software such as CargoWise or Descartes (ITMR4) is an asset
  • Familiarity with CBSA CARM (Assessment and Revenue Management) system is preferred
  • CCS or CTCS designation and/or the CBSA Customs Brokers Professional Examination passing certificate are considered strong assets
  • Ability to work under pressure with a high level of attention to detail and time management
