At Costco’s South London, Ontario warehouse, accuracy matters.
Reporting directly to the Warehouse Manager, you’ll be working across the warehouse floor, the steel, and receiving — physically counting merchandise, reviewing reports, and sending reconciled adjustments to the central office. It’s hands-on work that combines data entry, physical inventory counting, and analytical review on a daily basis.
About the Role: Inventory Auditor
The core of this position is identifying and correcting inventory discrepancies. You’ll audit the receiving summary report daily, review negative inventory counts weekly, and physically count merchandise throughout the warehouse — including specialty categories like cigarettes, jewellery, Major Sales, and tires on a periodic basis. Your findings go directly to the Warehouse Manager and the central office.
Beyond counting, you’ll be researching variances, reconciling book inventory vs. physical counts vs. stock status, auditing item signs for price and description accuracy, and attending Shrink Committee meetings to help address losses from damage, theft, or error. Providing courteous member service is also part of the role when interacting with shoppers on the floor.

Responsibilities
The Inventory Auditor at Costco touches nearly every corner of the warehouse operation. From daily report audits to periodic full department counts, your work directly impacts the accuracy of the warehouse’s financial records and loss prevention outcomes.
- Review weekly reports of negative inventory counts, items in stock without sales, and item markdowns
- Research and audit accrued merchandise payables, receiving documents, shipping documents, items sold by department number, and item discount documentation
- Count actual merchandise on the sales floor, in the steel, and in receiving — including removing layers from pallets for accuracy
- Create computer count sheets and key physical counts into the computer system
- Count and key cigarettes, jewellery, Major Sales department, and tires periodically; research variances and report year-to-date dollar variance to the Warehouse Manager and central office
- Reconcile and send adjustments to the central office for physical counts vs. stock status vs. book inventory
- Audit biannual warehouse inventory and item signs for correct item, description, price, and rebate information
- Attend Shrink Committee meetings to discuss concerns and solutions for warehouse loss due to damage, theft, or error
- Provide prompt and courteous member service on the warehouse floor
Requirements / Skills
Prior experience with Costco inventory auditing processes is a meaningful advantage and will be given preference during the selection process.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Costco inventory audit experience — candidates with this background will be given preference over other applicants
- Must pass the Costco math test as part of the qualification process
- French language proficiency (oral and written) required for candidates applying to Quebec locations
- Attention to detail and ability to identify and investigate discrepancies accurately
- Computer skills sufficient to create count sheets and enter physical inventory data
