Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) – Amazon – Airdrie, AB
Location: Calgary, AB | Company: Amazon
Amazon Data Services Canada is looking for an Engineering Operations Technician (EOT) to join its data centre team in Airdrie, Alberta. This is a hands-on technical role at the heart of Amazon’s cloud infrastructure — the physical backbone that keeps AWS running around the clock for customers across the globe. If you have a strong foundation in electrical and mechanical systems and thrive in mission-critical environments, this position puts you on the front lines of one of the most important infrastructure teams in the country.
Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for keeping critical data centre equipment operating at peak performance — from standby diesel generators and switchgear to UPS systems, PDUs, air handling units, and building automation systems. The work blends preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and emergency response, requiring both technical precision and the ability to act decisively when availability is on the line.
About the Role: Engineering Operations Technician
As an EOT at Amazon, you’ll oversee the maintenance and performance of all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data centre. The standard for uptime is uncompromising — data centre equipment supporting mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. You’ll serve as a key technical resource and first responder when electrical or mechanical issues arise that could impact Amazon’s availability.
Beyond day-to-day operations, this role also involves managing small-to-medium projects from design through completion, obtaining and tracking quotes, and documenting outcomes for future implementation across other facilities. You’ll work closely with third-party vendors and support fellow technicians in troubleshooting complex field issues. Please note: the successful candidate must obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada.
Benefits and Salary
The starting pay for this position in Airdrie, AB ranges from $36.00 to $46.00 CAD per hour. Final pay will be based on factors including shift selection, location, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company — additional earnings may include shift differentials, overtime pay, and performance bonuses where applicable.
