About the Role: Business Analyst Student

Responsibilities

In this placement, you’ll take on a wide range of responsibilities that span data engineering, stakeholder management, and process improvement. The work is both technical and collaborative — you’ll need to be comfortable navigating enterprise data systems while also communicating clearly with business teams across the organization.

  • Lead and support data migration initiatives, including transitioning data from SQL Server environments to enterprise data warehouses such as IHUB, ensuring scalable and analytics-ready data models
  • Design and implement data integration pipelines across multiple environments, connecting diverse data sources including SQL Server, Oracle, IHUB, Snowflake, and enterprise data warehouses
  • Enable seamless data access across platforms while ensuring data quality, governance, and consistency across systems
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and reporting solutions using tools such as Power BI, ThoughtSpot, and Tableau
  • Apply Agile Project Management methodology to lead analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation of key initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as a liaison and change agent, driving efficiencies and better decision-making across the portfolio
  • Turn large datasets into meaningful information, mapping current processes and creating simulation models to test alternatives

Requirements / Skills

Canadian Tire is looking for a university student in a relevant discipline who brings both analytical rigour and strong communication skills to the table. The ideal candidate is comfortable working across technical and business domains, and has hands-on experience with data analytics or engineering tools.   • Enrolled in a university program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in data analytics, data engineering, or data science roles or academic projects

  • Project and change management skills, with knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies considered an asset
