About the Role: Casual Courier Driver
As a Casual Courier Driver at DHL Express Richmond, you’ll handle a combination of delivery and pickup runs along with warehouse support duties. Day-to-day, you’ll be driving a company van, scanning and processing freight, sorting inbound shipments, and ensuring every parcel reaches its destination on time. Responsibilities
Working as a Casual Courier Driver at DHL means wearing a few hats — from behind the wheel on deliveries to supporting warehouse operations between runs. These responsibilities are designed to keep freight moving accurately and on time while upholding DHL’s high standards for safety, security, and customer service.
- Drive and deliver parcels and complete assigned pickups within tight time constraints
- Lift and carry shipments up to 70 lbs per piece throughout the shift
- Scan and process freight according to established procedures and Security Policies
- Sort and process inbound materials accurately and within deadlines
- Move freight within the warehouse area as required
- Assist the Tracing Department with warehouse checks for missorts and on-hands
- Interact with customers professionally, both in person and over the phone
- Participate in warehouse organization, clean-up, and maintaining a safe work environment
- Complete accurate reporting and meet all security requirements as directed by the shift supervisor
Requirements / Skills
DHL is looking for a dependable, self-motivated candidate who can handle the physical demands of courier work while staying organized and customer-focused. The ideal person brings warehouse or customer service experience, a clean driving record, and the ability to perform well under pressure — especially when deadlines are tight.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Warehouse knowledge — broad general understanding of warehouse functions
- MS Office proficiency, particularly comfortable with Excel
- Physical capability to lift heavy/awkward shipments and stand for extended periods
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Ability to multi-task and work under pressure within time-sensitive constraints
- Minimum one year of warehouse or customer service experience (considered an asset)
- Understanding of First Choice Programs and Global SOP (considered an asset)
