WHS Specialist – Amazon – Belleville, ON

About the Role: WHS Specialist

Day to day, you’ll drive comprehensive safety programs through data-driven strategies — leading daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments. Your work will span everything from delivering frontline safety training to implementing innovative injury-prevention solutions. You’ll champion continuous improvement initiatives that raise the bar on workplace safety without compromising operational goals.

Beyond the technical side, this role is deeply people-focused. You’ll serve as a trusted safety advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing, building strong partnerships at every level of the organization. Coaching, communication, and positive reinforcement are tools you’ll use regularly to transform safety best practices into natural, everyday habits for your team. You’ll also be translating safety data into compelling narratives that inspire genuine engagement across the site.

Benefits and Salary

This position offers an hourly wage of $29.37 to $40.38 CAD, with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

The WHS Specialist plays a central role in protecting associates and shaping the safety culture at Amazon’s Belleville fulfilment centre. From audits and investigations to training and coaching, this position touches every corner of the operation. Here’s what a typical scope of work looks like:

• Lead daily safety audits, incident investigations, and risk assessments to proactively identify and address hazards on the floor
• Deliver engaging safety training that resonates with associates and promotes a proactive, prevention-first safety culture
• Implement data-driven strategies to support comprehensive safety programs and drive continuous improvement across the site
• Serve as a safety advisor and advocate for associate wellbeing, building trusted relationships with frontline staff and leadership alike
• Coach and communicate safety best practices through positive reinforcement, fostering a culture where safety is everyone’s priority
• Transform safety data into compelling narratives that influence positive change and engage the broader team
• Perform physical tasks including lifting up to 49 lbs, standing or walking for up to 12 hours per shift, and navigating variable environments including noise and temperature fluctuations

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for someone who is both technically grounded in environmental health and safety and genuinely passionate about people. The right candidate brings hands-on EHS experience, solid knowledge of safety regulations, and the interpersonal skills to influence a large, fast-paced workforce. Strong communication and analytical thinking will set you apart.

• High school diploma or equivalent as a baseline educational requirement
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910, is required
• Minimum 1 year of EHS experience, a relevant bachelor’s degree, or 6 months in a safety-related role within Amazon
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in matters involving security or personnel issues
• Availability for flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends
• Preferred: First Aid and CPR certification, experience in worker’s compensation case management, and/or a background in emergency response
