Assurance Solutions Architect, AWS Security Assurance Services – Amazon Web Services – Ottawa, ON

AWS Security Assurance Services is looking for an Assurance Solutions Architect to join its growing team in Ottawa, Ontario. This is a customer-facing role at the intersection of cloud computing, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance — an opportunity to work alongside enterprise clients as they migrate sensitive workloads and regulated data to the AWS cloud.

If you have a background in Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) and a knack for translating complex regulatory requirements into scalable cloud-based solutions, this role puts you right at the centre of that work. You’ll engage with executives, technical teams, and cross-functional partners to help customers operate securely and demonstrate that compliance objectives are achievable on AWS.

About the Role: Assurance Solutions Architect

As an Assurance Solutions Architect with AWS Security Assurance Services, you’ll work directly with large enterprise customers to help them navigate the shared responsibility model as they move to the cloud. Your work will span deep dive technical discussions, strategic compliance presentations, and hands-on demonstrations of automating compliance within the AWS environment. You’ll collaborate with Amazonians, partners, and customers to enhance security assurance and compliance programs, and feed customer insights back into AWS engineering and product roadmaps.

AWS Security Assurance Services LLC is both a PCI-QSAC (Payment Card Industry-Qualified Security Assessor Company) and a HITRUST External Assessor Firm, meaning the work you do carries real regulatory weight. You’ll be part of a team of industry-certified assessors working to tie audit standards to AWS service-specific features — helping customers achieve, maintain, and automate compliance in the cloud. Some travel to customer sites will be required as part of this role.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position is $115,100 to $166,900 CAD annually, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. As a total compensation employer, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

In this role, your day-to-day work centres on helping enterprise customers operationalize cloud security and compliance. You’ll act as both a trusted advisor and a hands-on technical expert — bridging the gap between regulatory requirements and the practical realities of running workloads on AWS. Here’s what that looks like in practice:

• Deliver expertise by working in teams that include Amazonians, partners, and customers to enhance security assurance and compliance programs
• Define solutions by developing innovative compliance and risk management approaches that help customers understand how to migrate sensitive workloads to the cloud faster
• Lead engagements to resolve security assurance questions, manage risk, and achieve compliance through deep dive discussions, strategic presentations, and hands-on demonstrations of automating compliance in the AWS environment
• Communicate insights by working with AWS engineering, support, and business teams to convey partner and customer feedback as input to AWS technology roadmaps
• Travel to customer sites as needed to deliver in-person support and advisory services

Requirements / Skills

This role is well-suited to a seasoned security and compliance professional who can operate confidently across both technical and executive levels. The ideal candidate brings a combination of hands-on technical depth and a strong grounding in enterprise risk management frameworks.

• 2+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
• 4+ years of experience in specific technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics
• Knowledge of AWS services and how they map to compliance and security requirements
• 4+ years advising customers on architectures meeting industry standards such as PCI DSS, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, and NIST frameworks
• Ability to obtain Canadian federal security clearance, or a valid Secret or Top Secret clearance
• Preferred: Cloud Technology Certification (Solutions Architecture, Cloud Security Professional, or Cloud DevOps Engineering), CASP+, CCSP, Cloud+, or CSSLP
• Preferred: Experience performing security assessments and information system audits covering network, operating systems, and application security
• Preferred: Clear understanding of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps approaches and how they impact risk management and compliance
• Preferred: Fluency with generative AI tools and applying responsible AI practices to augment productivity and quality
