About the Role: Warehouse Associate – Exports
As a Warehouse Associate – Exports, you’ll be responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of parcels and shipments moving through the Halifax facility. Your day-to-day work involves using handheld and wrist scanners, preparing shipment labels, and ensuring all packaging and documentation meet compliance standards for international export. You’ll also play an active role in sort operations and coordinate with Service Centre Operations when transferring shipments.
This role requires a solid understanding of customs processes for import and export declarations, as well as a commitment to following all health and safety measures and collective agreement obligations. Working respectfully with teammates and demonstrating professional conduct at all times are core expectations of the position.

Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be handling the full cycle of export shipment processing — from scanning and sorting to documentation and compliance. Every task you perform contributes directly to DHL’s ability to deliver on its promise to customers across the globe.
- Scan all waybills using handheld, wrist, and wand scanners to ensure accurate tracking
- Handle parcels and shipments with care and efficiency throughout the sort process
- Participate actively in sort operations to keep shipments moving on schedule
- Prepare shipment labels and verify that packaging and paperwork comply with export requirements
- Apply knowledge of customs processes in the preparation of import/export declarations
- Coordinate shipment transfers by communicating effectively with Service Centre Operations
- Uphold health and safety standards and comply with the collective agreement at all times
- Collaborate respectfully with team members and promote a positive workplace environment
Requirements / Skills
DHL is looking for a reliable, physically capable candidate with at least one year of warehouse or customer service experience and a genuine team-first attitude. The ability to work under pressure, handle heavy shipments, and meet regulatory certification requirements are key to succeeding in this role.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Minimum one year of warehouse or customer service experience
- Physical fitness to lift up to 70 lbs and handle bulky, heavy, or awkward shipments
- Bilingual communication skills in English and French to serve customers across Canada
- Forklift certification (current or ability to obtain)
- Security clearances: ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) as per Transport Canada Standards, as well as Airside Training, SABLE certification, AVOP, and X-ray Certification
- Multi-tasking ability and demonstrated capacity to work under pressure
- Interpersonal skills and comfort working in a collaborative team environment
