About the Role: Genius
The Genius role at Apple Retail goes beyond technical repair. You’ll be a trusted resource for customers experiencing hardware or software issues, approaching every interaction with care and empathy. Using Apple’s tools and processes, you’ll troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and resolve service concerns across the full range of Apple products serviced in the store. You’ll also identify ownership opportunities and present product and service recommendations that genuinely fit each customer’s needs.
Beyond customer interactions, you’ll serve as a mentor and positive role model for Genius Bar team members — sharing your knowledge, flagging recurring repair trends to leadership, and contributing to a store culture rooted in inclusion and diversity. You may also support customer-facing activities on or off the sales floor as needed, stepping in wherever the team needs you most.
Benefits and Salary
The base pay range for this role is between $27.61 and $41.45 per hour. For postings in Ontario, qualified candidates can expect a hiring rate up to the midpoint of the pay range; on an exceptional basis, candidates with significant experience may be paid up to the range maximum. Responsibilities
As a Genius at Apple Retail, you’ll carry out a wide range of technical and customer-facing duties every shift. From hands-on device repairs to educating customers and colleagues, every responsibility is aimed at delivering an exceptional Apple experience.
- Maintain expertise on all Apple products, services, and Genius Bar repair processes to support efficient, high-quality repairs
- Troubleshoot and repair Apple hardware and software, resolving service concerns with accuracy and care
- Support customers experiencing Apple product or software issues with empathy, using all tools and resources provided by Apple
- Identify customer needs and present relevant product and service recommendations, educating customers on ways to buy
- Collaborate with team leaders to flag recurring repair problems and ensure feedback reaches Apple
- Mentor Genius Bar team members, serving as a knowledge resource and positive role model
- Support leadership in providing timely resolution to customer escalations
- Contribute to an inclusive environment by respecting differences and demonstrating Apple’s values of inclusion and diversity
Requirements / Skills

- Availability to work a schedule based on business needs, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Experience in retail, sales, or a related field, ideally including hardware and software troubleshooting in a customer service environment
- Technical proficiency with Apple products and services, including the ability to diagnose and repair devices
- Fine motor skills and the ability to visually inspect hardware and safely conduct repairs
- Strong interpersonal skills to navigate customer service challenges with care and confidence
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple customers or repairs simultaneously under tight deadlines
- Proficiency in written and spoken English (and French if the role is based in Quebec; sign language supported)
- Capacity to frequently handle, lift, and move merchandise safely
