About the Role: Casual Courier Driver

As a Casual Courier Driver at DHL Express, you’ll be responsible for completing assigned deliveries and pick-ups across the Halifax area using a company van. Your day will involve scanning and processing freight, sorting inbound material to meet deadlines, and interacting with customers both in person and over the phone. You’ll also pitch in on warehouse duties as directed by your shift supervisor.

This role demands someone who can handle the physical demands of the job — including lifting parcels up to 70 lbs — while maintaining accuracy, punctuality, and a professional attitude. Responsibilities

Working as a Casual Courier Driver at DHL means wearing a few hats — you’ll be behind the wheel making deliveries, but also actively contributing to warehouse operations and customer service. Every task you complete plays a direct role in keeping DHL’s service standards at the top of the industry.

• Drive a company van to complete assigned deliveries and pick-ups across the Halifax area
• Lift and carry parcels throughout your shift, including items weighing up to 70 lbs
• Scan and process freight in accordance with DHL’s agreed procedures and security policies
• Sort and process inbound material accurately and within established deadlines
• Assist the Tracing Department with thorough warehouse checks for missorts and on-hands
• Move freight within the warehouse area as required by supervisors
• Participate in warehouse organization, clean-up, and maintaining a safe work environment
• Interact with customers professionally, both in person and over the phone
• Complete accurate reporting and any additional tasks assigned by the shift supervisor

Requirements / Skills

DHL is looking for a candidate who is dependable, physically capable, and comfortable balancing both driving responsibilities and warehouse duties. The ideal person has a solid foundation in customer service and can work effectively under time pressure without compromising accuracy or safety.

• Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence with a clean driving record — this is a non-negotiable requirement
• High school diploma or equivalent education
• Warehouse experience — minimum one year in a warehouse or customer service environment (considered an asset)
• Physical fitness — ability to stand for long periods and handle bulky, heavy, and awkward shipments
• MS Office proficiency — particularly comfortable using Excel
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
• Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure within tight time constraints
• Understanding of First Choice Programs and Global SOP is considered an asset
