About the Role: Tire Installer

As a Tire Installer at Costco Saskatoon, your day revolves around delivering efficient, professional service in the tire centre. You’ll be responsible for mounting, balancing, and rotating tires, resetting TPMS sensors, and performing flat tire repairs in accordance with Tire Industry Standards. You’ll also drive member vehicles into the install bay, perform 40KM torque checks, and ensure every vehicle is properly serviced before being returned to the member.

Beyond the technical work, this role involves member-facing responsibilities such as answering questions, making product recommendations, processing payments, and booking appointments for special orders. Safety and compliance are central to everything done in the tire bay — from following TIA R.I.S.T. Standards and American Lift Institute procedures to maintaining a clean and organized work area at all times.

Responsibilities

Working in the Costco Tire Centre means managing a wide variety of tasks throughout the day — from technical installation work to member interactions and administrative duties. Each responsibility is designed to ensure members receive safe, accurate, and courteous service from start to finish.

• Mount and balance tires using mounting machines and wheel balancers, attaching wheel weights and filling tires with nitrogen to appropriate pressure
• Install and rotate tires on member vehicles in accordance with TIA R.I.S.T. Standards, using impact guns and hydraulic hoists
• Reset TPMS sensors as required using Costco-supplied reset tools, and replace valve stems or install TPMS sensor service packs
• Perform flat tire repairs following Tire Industry Standards and complete 40KM torque checks as required
• Assist members with tire selection, answer questions, provide price quotes by phone and in person, and apply the 5 steps of selling
• Process transactions accurately including payments, refunds for warranty returns, and creation of tire purchase and service invoices
• Organize and stock tires on the sales floor and in steel storage in accordance with the Tire Centre manager’s merchandising plan
• Maintain a clean work area by sweeping, mopping, spraying, and wiping the install bay and sales area throughout the day
• May assist with propane refills at applicable locations, following all required safety procedures and provincial certification requirements

Requirements / Skills

Costco is looking for candidates who are reliable, safety-conscious, and service-oriented. The ideal candidate brings some background in automotive or tire services and is comfortable both behind the wheel and in front of members. A willingness to learn and follow established procedures is essential in this role.

• Valid driver’s licence is required to drive member vehicles within the tire centre area
• Tire installation or tire sales experience is preferred — candidates with this background will be given priority consideration
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred
• Must pass the Costco Tire certification test upon hiring
• Propane locations only: must obtain appropriate provincial PP0-3 certification and TDG Certification from the PTI 100-11 program
• Strong member service skills including the ability to communicate clearly, make recommendations, and handle transactions accurately
