About the Role: Tire Installer
As a Tire Installer at Costco Halifax, you’ll handle the full range of tire centre operations — from mounting, balancing, and rotating tires to resetting TPMS sensors and completing flat tire repairs according to Tire Industry Standards. You’ll also assist members in selecting the right tires, process invoices, and manage special orders with care.
Safety and compliance are central to this position. You’ll follow American Lift Institute standards when raising vehicles, adhere to TIA R.I.S.T. Standards when reattaching wheels, and work with your manager to complete 10-point checks and vehicle releases. In propane-equipped locations, once provincially certified, you may also assist with propane refills following all applicable safety protocols.

Responsibilities
The Tire Installer role covers a wide range of tasks across the tire centre and sales floor. From operating heavy equipment to supporting members throughout their visit, you’ll be expected to work with urgency and precision all day long.
- Mount and balance tires using mounting machines and wheel balancers, filling tires with nitrogen to the correct pressure
- Install and rotate tires following TIA R.I.S.T. Standards, attaching wheel weights as needed
- Reset TPMS sensors using Costco-supplied tools as required for each vehicle
- Perform 40KM torque checks and assist in completing 10-point vehicle inspections with the manager or lead
- Repair flat tires according to Tire Industry Standards
- Process transactions accurately, including tire purchases, service invoices, payments, and warranty refunds
- Assist members in selecting the right tires using product knowledge and the 5 steps of selling
- Tag, organize, and stage special order and .CA tires for efficiency
- Maintain cleanliness of the install bay and sales floor through sweeping, mopping, and wiping
- Communicate with Tire Centre management on special orders, inventory, pricing, and deliveries
Requirements / Skills
Costco is looking for someone who is reliable, safety-conscious, and comfortable in a fast-paced, physical work environment. Previous experience in the tire industry gives applicants a notable advantage in the selection process.
- Valid driver’s licence — required to drive member vehicles in and out of the service bay
- Costco Tire certification — must be completed and passed as part of onboarding
