About the Role: Team Leader Air Export
As Team Leader, you’ll organize and oversee the day-to-day work of your Export Operations Specialists, supervising everything from pick-ups and consolidations to airline transfers and documentation. You’ll monitor supplier performance, follow up on important shipments, manage escalations, and ensure all export documents are handled according to regulations and internal procedures. You’ll also play a key role in onboarding new clients and ensuring everything is in place before regular service begins.
Beyond operations, you’ll be a connector — building strong working relationships with Customer Service, Capacity Management, Sales, and Global Service Centers, while acting as the subject matter expert for air export questions across the organization. Annual performance evaluations, KPI monitoring, and identifying training opportunities for your team are also part of the picture.
Benefits and Salary

Responsibilities
This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced freight environment and knows how to keep both people and shipments on track. Your responsibilities span team leadership, operational oversight, and relationship management — all critical to delivering on DHL’s service standards.
- Organize and plan the day-to-day workload of Export Operations Specialists to ensure efficient throughput
- Supervise transactional operations including pick-ups, consolidations, bookings, and airline transfers
- Ensure compliance with export documentation requirements in line with regulations and internal procedures
- Monitor and follow up on important export shipments, identifying and resolving incidents promptly
- Support Customer Service in managing and resolving escalations and exceptions related to air export
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and continuously monitor their performance
- Identify training needs and development opportunities to strengthen the skills of your team
- Evaluate Air Export personnel on an annual basis and monitor adherence to operational KPIs
- Act as first point of escalation for all customer service and airfreight export operational issues
- Collaborate with internal functions including Capacity Management, ACC, and Sales as a subject matter expert
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience in freight forwarding supervision and knows how to lead a team through the complexities of air export operations. Strong communication in both official languages and a client-focused mindset are essential to succeed in this role.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role within freight forwarding
- Extensive knowledge of AFR Export Operations; background in Aerospace is strongly preferred
- Bilingual (French and English) communication skills — written and verbal — are required
- Cargowise software knowledge is considered a strong asset
- Experience with IATA CASS, CERS, and Secure Air Chain of Custody platforms
- Experience handling temperature-controlled cargo and/or dangerous goods is an asset
- Strong financial literacy including understanding of P&L reports
- People management skills including communication, motivation, coaching, and interpersonal effectiveness
- Process-driven with the ability to take ownership and lead by example in a self-directed working style
