This is a customer-facing technical role that blends architecture design, hands-on building, and strategic advisory. You’ll work backward from customer business challenges to design solutions that enable cloud migration, modernization, and innovation. Expect to engage with both technical and executive stakeholders, lead whiteboarding sessions, and contribute to proof-of-concept activities that guide real decisions.
Beyond customer work, you’ll also contribute to the broader AWS team — providing product feedback to engineering teams, participating in recruiting, and mentoring colleagues. Benefits and Salary
This position offers a base salary range of $115,100 to $166,900 CAD annually for the Vancouver location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities
As a Solutions Architect at AWS Canada, your work will span technical design, customer engagement, and team contribution. Each day involves a mix of strategic conversations and hands-on building, all in service of helping enterprise customers succeed with AWS cloud technologies.
- Design scalable, secure cloud architectures supporting migration, modernization, and cloud-native and AI-driven solutions
- Advise customers as a trusted technical partner, identifying opportunities and risks in their technology decisions and anticipating their evolving needs
- Translate customer requirements into technical solutions, communicating complex concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders
- Develop and deliver technical content including workshops, prototypes, and presentations, including speaking at industry events
- Lead technical discussions, whiteboarding sessions, and proof-of-concept activities to drive informed customer decision-making
- Contribute to organizational growth by providing product feedback to AWS engineering teams, participating in recruiting, and mentoring teammates
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in cloud architecture and a genuine interest in helping enterprise customers solve meaningful problems. AWS is looking for someone who can operate equally well in a technical deep-dive and a boardroom conversation, with the credibility to advise at both levels.
- 3+ years of experience in design, implementation, or consulting across applications and infrastructure
- Enterprise architecture experience, including virtualization technologies and distributed systems
- 3–5 years in solutions architecture, technical advisory, or a similar customer-facing technical role
- Strong technical foundation in cloud architecture, data, AI/ML, and software development
- Communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to diverse business and technical audiences
- Familiarity with modern architectures such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems
- Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI; hands-on experience with AI/ML and Generative AI; scripting in Python, JavaScript, or similar; Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
