At the intersection of machine learning, generative AI, and customer experience, Amazon’s Data Intelligence team is looking for an AI Principal Product Manager – Technical to join their ranks in Vancouver, British Columbia. This is a senior, high-impact role within Amazon Customer Service — a team that’s redefining what AI-powered service looks like at global scale.

This isn’t a typical product management role. You’ll be working alongside applied scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and economists to shape products built on Generative AI, Agentic AI, Natural Language Processing, Knowledge Graphs, Reinforcement Learning, and more. The work is technically deep, strategically broad, and directly tied to outcomes that matter for millions of customers worldwide.

About the Role: AI Principal Product Manager – Technical

As the AI Principal Product Manager – Technical, you’ll own the end-to-end product lifecycle for large-scale AI products — from defining long-term roadmaps to driving cross-functional teams toward execution. You’ll translate complex customer and business requirements into practical, AI-driven solutions that are both technically sound and commercially meaningful. Each day will blend strategic vision with hands-on problem-solving across machine learning, multi-agent architectures, and advanced data science.

You’ll also play a role in building the team itself — contributing to talent acquisition, participating in hiring, and supporting the career development of other product managers. The Data Intelligence team moves with urgency, builds for the long term, and holds itself accountable to getting the customer experience right.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position is $157,600 to $263,200 CAD annually, depending on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Responsibilities

As a senior technical product leader, your day-to-day will span strategic planning, cross-functional alignment, and hands-on problem-solving across some of the most advanced AI systems in production. You’ll be expected to operate with startup-level urgency while building solutions that scale globally — reviewing customer feedback and performance data, identifying opportunities and risks, and driving teams toward meaningful outcomes.

• Own the complete product lifecycle: Define and communicate strategic vision and long-term roadmaps, drive cross-functional teams toward successful execution, and maintain accountability for customer outcomes and product reliability.
• Develop product strategy and communications: Craft clear, differentiated value propositions tailored for diverse audiences including senior leadership.
• Navigate ambiguity and drive invention: Identify where invention is needed, take smart risks, distinguish between one-way and two-way doors, and ensure gaps and opportunities within or between regions, architectures, and business organizations are addressed.
• Build consensus across functions: Partner effectively with design, engineering, science, and other leaders to align roadmap priorities and influence cross-functional strategies.
• Translate requirements into solutions: Work collaboratively with applied scientists, data engineers, software engineers, and business leaders to define product direction, evaluate technical approaches, and focus on customer impact, efficiency, and scalability.
• Develop and mentor technical product leaders: Actively contribute to talent acquisition, participate in hiring and interview processes, and play a role in the career development of other product managers.

Requirements / Skills

This role is built for a technically fluent product leader who is as comfortable in a whiteboard session with engineers as they are presenting to senior leadership. Amazon values candidates who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and bring structured thinking to complex, ambiguous problems in fast-moving AI domains.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required.
• 7+ years of end-to-end product delivery experience, with a strong track record of shipping complex products.
• Experience owning and driving roadmap strategy and definition, including long-term planning and stakeholder alignment.
• Experience with feature delivery and product trade-offs, including balancing scope, quality, and timelines.
• Experience working directly with engineers on product enhancements is preferred.
• Project management, business analysis, or process improvement experience is considered an asset.
• Experience leading engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product is preferred.
• Strong leadership and influence skills — able to prioritize well, communicate clearly, and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
