About the Role: Software Engineer, SCOT-Fulfillment Optimization

As a Software Development Engineer (SDE) within SCOT, you’ll own end-to-end development of package flow optimization software, data pipelines, and warehousing systems. You’ll be expected to dive deep into technical architectures, rapidly identify solutions to development challenges, and leverage cutting-edge technology to deliver measurable outcomes. Prior experience with scalable, stable systems is a must; familiarity with data mining, databases, or massively parallel systems is a bonus.

The base salary range for this position in Vancouver, BC is $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually. As a total compensation company, Amazon’s package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life and AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be working at the intersection of software engineering, data science, and supply chain optimization. Your contributions will directly influence how Amazon manages inventory and fulfillment for customers worldwide, making each responsibility both technically challenging and operationally significant.

  • Own end-to-end development of Amazon package flow optimization software, data pipelines, and warehousing systems
  • Deep dive into data based on anecdotes or aggregate patterns to uncover insights and improvement opportunities
  • Invent and implement anomaly detection systems and visualization tools that identify and explain deviations from planned values
  • Implement GenAI-driven automation to detect new opportunities for improving aggregate metrics and communicate findings effectively

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for an engineer who is comfortable owning complex technical problems from start to finish. The ideal candidate brings solid hands-on software development experience, a strong grasp of system design and architecture, and the curiosity to work with emerging technologies like GenAI and advanced optimization tools.

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used in professional software development
  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience with data mining, databases, or massively parallel systems is a strong asset
