In this senior leadership role, you’ll drive the technical roadmap for systems that bridge S3’s Object APIs with the underlying storage infrastructure. You’ll be working at the intersection of algorithms, infrastructure, and distributed systems — balancing software resiliency, availability, performance, and cost across S3’s global fleet. If you’re passionate about cloud computing and thrive in fast-paced, high-ownership environments, this role puts you right where the action is.

About the Role: Software Development Manager, S3 Routing and Blob Placement

As the leader of the Routing and Blob Placement team, you’ll interact with stakeholders across S3’s Storage Request and Control Plane systems, bridging the gap between physical and logical views of the fleet. Your team tackles algorithmic and infrastructure problems related to routing and placement of customer bytes and requests — with a sharp focus on security, durability, resiliency, and performance. You’ll own your team’s goals and roadmap, while having a significant stake in the strategic direction of the software you build.

The role also carries on-call responsibility — structured in focused rotations to ensure you can fully concentrate on your day-to-day work when you’re not on-call. You’ll recruit and develop top engineering talent, mentor your team, and partner with cross-functional teams across AWS Utility Computing to deliver innovations that matter at global scale.
