About the Role: Software Development Manager, Digital Acceleration

As part of the Subscriptions team within Digital Acceleration, you’ll own the development lifecycle for services that make it easier for businesses and customers to buy, manage, and renew digital subscriptions at scale. Your team will build systems that support new sales channels, reduce purchase friction, and simplify onboarding for Amazon’s internal and external business partners. The scope touches products used by hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.

You’ll be expected to uphold strong operational excellence (OE) standards, maintain engineering best practices, and foster a culture of innovation. Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position in Vancouver, BC is $171,400 to $286,200 CAD annually. Amazon’s total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be leading a cross-functional engineering team through the full development lifecycle — from design and architecture through to deployment and live operations. Your work will directly shape how Amazon builds and scales its digital subscriptions platform, with an emphasis on both technical rigour and team development.

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a candidate who combines strong technical depth with the leadership skills to build and inspire an engineering team. The ideal person has hands-on experience with large-scale distributed systems and a genuine commitment to developing the engineers around them.

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience, with demonstrated ability to lead and grow technical teams
  • 7+ years working directly within engineering teams, building production-grade systems at scale
  • 3+ years designing or architecting new and existing systems using patterns focused on reliability and scalability
  • 8+ years leading definition and development of multi-tier web services
  • Knowledge of full software/hardware/network development lifecycle practices — including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and live-site operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams in a fast-paced delivery environment
  • Preferred: Experience recruiting, hiring, and mentoring Software Engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness
  • Preferred: Strong communication skills with users, technical teams, and senior leadership around product features, technical designs, and strategy
