Software Development Engineer, Ordering – Amazon – Vancouver, BC
Location: Vancouver, BC | Company: Amazon
Vancouver’s tech scene has a standout opening: Amazon is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Ordering team at their Amazon Development Centre Canada ULC. If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to keep one of the world’s most complex retail ordering workflows running smoothly for hundreds of millions of customers globally, this is your chance to find out from the inside.
This role places you at the heart of large-scale distributed systems, where you’ll be designing and building solutions that handle real customer transactions at a global scale. You’ll own your systems end to end, and your engineering decisions will directly influence how customers experience ordering—anywhere, anytime, on anything.
About the Role: Software Development Engineer, Ordering
As an SDE on the Ordering team, you’ll be working on some of the most technically demanding problems in eCommerce infrastructure. The work involves architecting flexible, scalable solutions while applying your deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. You won’t just write code—you’ll help shape the direction of technology that underpins the entire retail ordering experience for a global customer base.
Collaboration and ownership are central to how Amazon SDEs operate. You’ll be expected to dive deep into abstract problems, propose innovative system designs, and drive them through to production. The team values engineers who think critically about reliability, scalability, and system architecture and aren’t afraid to challenge conventional approaches when a better solution exists.
Benefits and Salary
This position comes with a base salary range of $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually for the Vancouver location. As part of Amazon’s total compensation philosophy, the package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), with final compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location. Benefits include comprehensive health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, and basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), a Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.
