Software Dev Engineer II – Amazon – Vancouver, BC
Location: Vancouver, BC | Company: Amazon
Amazon’s Selection and Catalog Systems (ASCS) team in Vancouver, BC is looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join the Offers Platform — one of the most traffic-intensive systems in the entire Amazon ecosystem. If you’re drawn to engineering problems that have no textbook solutions and want to work at a scale that most engineers never encounter, this role is worth your attention.
The Offers Platform sits at the heart of every Amazon Stores experience worldwide. It responds to billions of requests per day from thousands of internal clients — everything from the main website to Kindle, Amazon Alexa, Groceries, and emerging generative AI initiatives. With requests handled within a few milliseconds at P99, this team pushes the boundaries of what distributed systems can do.
About the Role: Software Dev Engineer II, Offers Platform
As a Software Dev Engineer II on the Offers Platform, you’ll be building and operating the systems that serve billions of product and buyability records — including availability data and pricing — across Amazon’s global store network. You’ll work on a distributed, high-performance, high-availability NoSQL data storage system with an inbuilt micro-service computing environment. This is engineering at the very edge of what’s possible in e-commerce infrastructure.
You’ll be expected to take full ownership of software services, contribute to system design and architecture, and collaborate with a team of engineers who are customer-focused and performance-driven. The role demands both technical depth in distributed systems and a genuine commitment to operational excellence — ensuring the software doesn’t just work in theory, but delivers in production reality.
