Amazon Web Services Canada is looking for a Senior Solutions Architect to join their team in Vancouver, BC, focused on the Retail, CPG, and Travel & Hospitality sectors. This is a senior technical leadership role where you’ll serve as both a credible cloud architect and a strategic advisor — helping enterprise customers tackle some of their most complex technology transformations on AWS.
Day to day, you’ll be working alongside senior customer stakeholders and cross-functional AWS teams, designing end-to-end cloud architectures, building reusable technical assets, and driving measurable business outcomes. About the Role: Senior Solutions Architect
As a Senior Solutions Architect at AWS Canada, you’ll be responsible for architecting scalable, operationally excellent solutions for enterprise customers navigating cloud migration, modernization, and innovation challenges. You’ll influence long-term technology strategy at the executive level, design multi-faceted cloud architectures, and develop workshops, prototypes, and technical content that help customers confidently adopt new technologies.
Collaboration is central to this role. You’ll build consensus across internal and cross-functional teams, mentor fellow Solutions Architects, and advocate for customers by identifying product gaps and feeding insights back to AWS service teams. Balancing deep technical work with strategic influence, you’ll help customers and your organization make the right long-term trade-offs with confidence.
Benefits and Salary
The base salary for this position in Vancouver, BC ranges from $146,000 to $211,600 CAD annually. As part of Amazon’s total compensation approach, the package may also include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D), a Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP), Deferred Profit Sharing Plan (DPSP), paid time off, and additional resources to support health and well-being.

Responsibilities
In this role, your work spans strategic customer engagement, hands-on cloud architecture design, and organizational mentorship. Each day blends executive-level advisory conversations with deep technical problem-solving — all in service of helping enterprise customers build what’s next on AWS.
- Architect extensible, reusable, and operationally excellent cloud solutions for complex migration, modernization, and innovation challenges
- Build and own strategic relationships with senior customer leaders, understanding their industry context and influencing long-term technology strategy
- Lead technical direction across internal and cross-functional teams, building consensus and negotiating architectural trade-offs to drive measurable business impact
- Develop and deliver technical content including workshops, prototypes, and presentations, and speak at industry events to support technology adoption
- Advocate for customers by identifying product gaps and feature requests, collaborating with AWS service teams to address real customer needs
- Create reusable architectures and technical assets that other Solutions Architects can leverage across the organization
- Mentor teammates and contribute to developing the next generation of cloud solutions architects at AWS Canada
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and strong business acumen, with the ability to engage confidently at the executive level and translate complex technology concepts for diverse audiences. AWS values curiosity, ownership, and a continuous learning mindset.
- 8+ years of experience in specific technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data & analytics
- 5+ years of design, implementation, or consulting experience in applications and infrastructure
- Strong communication skills across both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders
- Proven expertise architecting and guiding implementation of complex, end-to-end solutions in distributed systems and cloud architectures
- Familiarity with modern architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems, with the ability to adapt them for customer-specific needs
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI is an asset
- Retail sector experience and a track record of creating reusable technical assets are strong assets for this role
- AI/ML solution design experience, including generative AI, agentic applications, MLOps, and RAG architectures is a bonus
