This position involves sorting, collecting, and delivering mail safely and on schedule to various communities in the Midland area. You’ll need to develop and maintain a solid knowledge of local roads, delivery receptacles, and customer locations. Part of the job also means handling Canada Post products and services such as Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail processing, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB).

You’ll be operating your own vehicle to complete deliveries, which must meet mandatory cargo and equipment requirements set by Canada Post. Safe driving practices are central to this role, as is maintaining proper vehicle insurance coverage for work use. You’ll represent Canada Post in the community, so wearing your Canada Post identification visibly while on delivery is required at all times.

Responsibilities

In this role, your day revolves around safe, timely mail delivery to rural and suburban communities in and around Midland. Each task — from sorting parcels to navigating local routes — plays a direct part in keeping communities connected through Canada Post’s national network.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on schedule to assigned routes
• Develop and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
• Secure mail properly throughout your possession at all times
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly while delivering and collecting mail from customers
• Lift and carry items up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as required
• Operate your personal vehicle safely under all weather and traffic conditions
• Maintain vehicle insurance and notify your insurer of the vehicle’s use for Canada Post deliveries

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for someone who is organized, reliable, and comfortable working independently in a physically active outdoor environment. A clean driving record and the right vehicle are essential prerequisites for this position.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a driver’s abstract will be required
• Experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in varied weather and traffic conditions
• Personal vehicle meeting Canada Post’s requirements: minimum 50 cu ft cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, metal roof with accessory power outlet, and window sill height between 38″ and 45″ from the ground
• Automobile liability insurance maintained for work use of your vehicle
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
