Google’s Cloud Applied AI (AAI) team powers business growth with Gemini Enterprise, a portfolio that includes Shopping Agent, CX Agent Studio, Agent Assist, Vertex AI Search, and Customer Experience Insights. As the Agent Development Manager, you’ll act as a specialized software development leader embedded with strategic accounts — building real-world AI solutions that deliver measurable results, from large call-centre customer agents to AI-powered food ordering systems.
You’ll establish code standards, architectural best practices, and development benchmarks across your team, while collaborating with sales, tech leadership, and product teams to resolve blockers and translate complex technical requirements into executable roadmaps. Staying ahead of an evolving AI stack — including MCP, tool-calling, and emerging foundation models — is central to this position.
Benefits and Salary
This position offers a base salary of $260,000–$266,000 CAD per year, plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and a comprehensive benefits package. Responsibilities
This role demands both strategic vision and hands-on technical leadership. As the Agent Development Manager, you’ll guide a team working at the forefront of applied AI, ensuring delivery excellence on some of Google’s most impactful enterprise deployments. Here’s what that looks like day to day:
- Serve as technical lead, establishing code standards, architectural best practices, and benchmarks to elevate development excellence across the team
- Partner with sales and tech leadership to define requirements for high-value opportunities, deploying specialized experts in agentic systems for customer experience to key accounts
- Lead technical hiring for Applied AI Agent Development, evaluating AI Agent expertise, systems development, and coding skills to build an exceptional development team
- Identify skill gaps in emerging technologies including MCP, tool-calling, and foundation models, ensuring the team maintains subject matter expertise in an evolving AI stack
- Collaborate with product and development teams to resolve blockers and translate field insights into roadmaps while building internal tools to drive organizational efficiency
Requirements / Skills
Google is looking for a candidate who combines deep technical expertise in AI and cloud computing with proven people leadership experience. The ideal person thrives in fast-paced environments, communicates complex AI concepts clearly to both technical teams and executive stakeholders, and has a genuine passion for building and scaling high-performing teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience in cloud computing or a technical customer-facing role
- Python or similar coding languages — hands-on experience required
- Agentic solutions development — experience developing and deploying solutions utilizing tools, multi-agent workflows, and RAG systems
- Customer project management — experience managing customer projects and resource management
- People management — experience in a supervision or team leadership role
- Preferred: Master’s degree or PhD in AI, Computer Science, or related technical fields
- Preferred: Experience designing end-to-end secure, observable multi-agent systems using design patterns such as ReAct and self-reflection, state management, and tool-calling protocols
- Preferred: Experience performing discovery interviews to identify business problems and translate complex AI constraints for C-suites and technical teams
