About the Role: Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent

Your day starts at the depot, where you’ll sort and prepare deliveries before loading up a Canada Post postal vehicle and heading out on your route. Most of your shift is spent outdoors — on foot or behind the wheel — making sure mail and packages reach their destinations safely and on time. At the end of the day, you’ll return to the depot to unload incoming mail and parcels for the next round of deliveries.

This role demands physical stamina and the ability to work in all weather conditions — a typical reality for outdoor work in Northern Ontario. You’ll be representing Canada Post directly in the community, so reliability, professionalism, and a safe driving record are all essential to success in this position.

Responsibilities

As a Letter Carrier – Delivery Agent at Canada Post, your day-to-day involves a mix of depot work and active outdoor delivery. These responsibilities are central to keeping mail and parcels moving reliably across Timmins and surrounding areas.

• Sort and prepare the day’s mail and parcels at the depot each morning before heading out on route
• Load and operate a Canada Post postal vehicle safely and responsibly
• Deliver mail and packages to customers and businesses on your assigned route, both on foot and by vehicle
• Work outdoors for the majority of your shift in all types of weather conditions
• Unload incoming mail and parcels upon returning to the depot for later processing and delivery

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for candidates who are physically capable, dependable, and comfortable working independently outdoors. A safe driving record and the ability to handle physical demands throughout the day are non-negotiable for this role.

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years — a driver’s abstract will be required
• Physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• Ability to work in all weather conditions, including the demanding winters of Northern Ontario
• On-call availability — must be available to work on short notice as needed
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and/or French
• Customer service experience is considered an asset
• Experience making deliveries or working as a driver is also an advantage
