About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

As an on-call relief carrier, your day revolves around sorting, collecting, and delivering mail safely and on schedule. You’ll develop a strong working knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles across your assigned routes. You’ll also handle a range of Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB), while wearing Canada Post identification visibly at all times.

Physical readiness matters in this role — you’ll be lifting and carrying items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) regularly. Your personal vehicle will be used for deliveries, so it must meet Canada Post’s mandatory vehicle requirements, including minimum cargo capacity, automatic transmission, power windows, a metal roof-top, and accessory power outlet. You’ll also need to maintain the required automobile liability insurance and notify your insurer of your vehicle’s use for Canada Post deliveries.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, this role is all about reliable, safe delivery across rural and suburban routes in the Hastings area. You’ll be the face of Canada Post in the communities you serve, and your organizational skills and knowledge of local infrastructure will be key to your success.
