About the Role: Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief

As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, your primary responsibility is the safe and timely sorting, collection, and delivery of mail across designated routes in and around Angus, ON. You’ll need to develop strong familiarity with local roads, delivery receptacles, and customers to keep operations running smoothly each day.

This role also involves processing various Canada Post products and services, including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills. You’ll be expected to wear your Canada Post identification at all times during delivery, handle packages up to 50 lb (22.7 kg), and maintain your personal vehicle in accordance with Canada Post’s mandatory vehicle requirements.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier at Canada Post is responsible for keeping communities connected through reliable mail delivery. From sorting at the start of your route to safely securing mail throughout the day, every task plays a role in maintaining trust and service quality across the Angus area.

• Sort, collect, and deliver mail items safely and on time along assigned rural and suburban routes
• Learn and maintain knowledge of local roads, customers, and delivery receptacles in your coverage area
• Secure all mail items in your possession throughout your shift to prevent loss or damage
• Process Canada Post products and services including Change of Address Notifications, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bills (IDB)
• Wear Canada Post identification visibly at all times while delivering and collecting mail
• Lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lb / 22.7 kg as required
• Operate a personal vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions while adhering to safe driving standards

Requirements / Skills

Canada Post is looking for organized, dependable individuals who take pride in their work and can operate independently. A valid driver’s licence and a suitable personal vehicle are mandatory for this role, and your driving record and vehicle specifications will be verified as part of the hiring process.

• Valid permanent provincial driver’s licence — Class 5 or Class G required
• Satisfactory safe driving record — a current driver’s abstract dated within the last 30 days will be required if selected
• Personal vehicle with a minimum cargo capacity of 100 cu ft (2,832 litres), metal rooftop, accessory power outlet, and a fifth door or hatchback (preferred)
• Automobile liability insurance — must be maintained and your insurer notified of vehicle use for Canada Post work
• Delivery experience and comfort operating a motor vehicle in all weather and traffic conditions
• Physical capability to lift and carry items up to 50 lb (22.7 kg)
