About the Role: Packaging Operations Supervisor

As a Packaging Operations Supervisor at DHL Supply Chain in Bolton, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activity of a contract packaging operation that delivers in-DC solutions including primary and secondary packaging, POP displays, pallet displays, and more. Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be at the centre of daily packaging operations — from managing staffing and workload planning to troubleshooting production issues in real time. Every decision you make directly impacts associate safety, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.

  • Supervise daily packaging operations to maintain a safe, secure, clean, and fair work environment for all associates
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to identify and act on opportunities to increase process efficiency
  • Plan and prioritize daily workload and staffing levels to minimize unplanned overtime
  • Deliver training and performance reviews for associates, supporting orientation and professional development
  • Maximize quality and productivity by understanding job standards, evaluating performance variances, and identifying root causes and corrective actions
  • Communicate effectively through pre-shift meetings, SOP delivery, and shift handoff documentation
  • Execute customer and vendor contract requirements and identify any accessorial activity outside of commercial contracts
  • Ensure inventory integrity through accurate receiving, picking, shipping, and inventory management practices
  • Collaborate with regional sites on safety initiatives, labour sharing, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot production issues to restore operations as quickly as possible

Requirements / Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field (preferred)
  • 1+ year of industry experience in primary packaging, secondary packaging, custom packaging, manufacturing, or related operations (required)

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of associates
  • Computer literacy, with experience in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook considered a strong asset
  • Teamwork and collaboration across shifts, departments, and peers — an essential part of this role
