About the Role: Operations Supervisor Exports
As the Operations Supervisor (Exports), you’ll oversee the timely and accurate movement of outbound freight through DHL’s Scarborough facility. You’ll liaise with forwarders, customs agencies, and internal departments, coordinate with the debrief and supervisor teams, and ensure all export material is connected daily. Your role is critical to keeping aircraft departures on schedule and maintaining the high standards DHL is known for globally.
Beyond logistics, this position demands strong people leadership. Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll be managing a wide range of operational and people-focused duties each day. From ensuring freight security and aircraft departures to coaching your team and maintaining compliance, the scope of this position is both challenging and rewarding.
- Coordinate daily aircraft departures, ensuring freight security and proper loading procedures are followed
- Liaise with key stakeholders including freight forwarders, customs agencies, and internal departments
- Connect all export material daily by coordinating with the debrief and supervisor teams
- Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurement strategies to achieve operational targets
- Coach and develop team members through regular feedback, recognition, and performance monitoring
- Ensure timely and accurate distribution of inbound and outgoing freight in accordance with established standards
- Complete accurate management reports including staff schedules, attendance records, payroll documentation, and dangerous goods incidents
- Maintain staff permits and air operations audits to ensure they are always current and compliant
- Oversee scanning technology implementation and ensure continued application across operations
- Maintain warehouse organization and ensure equipment is in safe, efficient operating condition at all times
- Establish a proactive safety program in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
- Address customer complaints and escalated issues in a professional and timely manner
Requirements / Skills
DHL is looking for a high-potential leader who can thrive in a fast-paced logistics environment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on supervisory experience, knowledge of aviation and customs regulations, and the interpersonal skills to lead a diverse team effectively.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience, ideally in a warehouse or logistics setting
- College or University designation in a relevant field
- Knowledge of and compliance with Dangerous Goods regulations is required
- Ability to adhere to Transport Canada’s Air Cargo Security Program regulations for screeners
- Experience with Canada Customs is a strong asset
- Familiarity with aviation regulations and operational components is an asset
- Prior experience with lean or process improvement initiatives is an asset
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills — both written and verbal
- Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Demonstrated time management, initiative, and flexibility to ensure task completion in a dynamic environment
