About the Role: Sr Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

As the Sr Operations Supervisor at DHL Express in Mount Hope, your daily responsibilities span people management, operational oversight, and customer service coordination. You’ll be the go-to leader on the floor, ensuring that every package, process, and person is aligned with DHL’s global standards and local operational requirements.

• Recruit and develop operations staff — including orientation, training, scheduling, and performance management
• Establish and implement productivity, quality, and cost measurement strategies to achieve desired operational outcomes
• Ensure accurate and timely handling of outgoing freight in accordance with established standards and procedures
• Prepare reports for management covering staff schedules, attendance, payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, health and safety, and load quality
• Oversee scanning technology implementation and ensure all materials on-hand, on-road, and exported are properly scanned
• Lead safety and security programs in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
• Investigate employee complaints and grievances, prepare written replies, and liaise with Employee Relations as needed
• Address customer complaints and escalated issues in a professional and timely manner
• Monitor and audit productivity results to identify root causes of service failures and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with Transport of Dangerous Goods and WHMIS regulations at all times

Requirements / Skills

DHL is looking for a candidate who combines hands-on logistics experience with strong leadership instincts and a solutions-oriented mindset. The ideal applicant brings a track record of managing operations teams in a courier or warehouse setting and is comfortable navigating both the human and technical sides of the job.

• 3 years of experience in warehouse or on-road operations within the courier industry
• College or University designation in an appropriate discipline
• Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to be assertive, motivate staff, and manage multiple activities and deadlines simultaneously
• Strong communication skills — both written and oral — along with excellent interpersonal abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Knowledge of Dangerous Goods/WHMIS special handling procedures and compliance requirements
• Prior experience with quality and process improvement initiatives is a strong asset
