Responsibilities

This role covers a wide scope of operational and people management duties at DHL’s Richmond export facility. From freight security and aircraft coordination to staff development and customer escalations, you’ll be the key figure ensuring everything runs smoothly every shift.

  • Coordinate daily aircraft departures, ensuring proper loading and freight security in compliance with aviation standards
  • Liaise with stakeholders including freight forwarders, customs authorities, and internal departments to keep export material connected daily
  • Oversee security screening of all shipments using X-ray, Explosive Trace Detection (ETD), and physical inspections
  • Obtain trainer certification and deliver CIS, Security, and airside training sessions to staff
  • Monitor compliance with all required training programs and ensure staff certifications remain current
  • Establish productivity, quality, and cost measurements to achieve desired operational results
  • Coach and develop your team through regular feedback, recognition, and progress monitoring against goals
  • Prepare accurate reports for management, including staff schedules, attendance records, payroll documentation, dangerous goods incidents, and load quality summaries
  • Maintain equipment in safe and efficient operating condition and ensure the warehouse is organized for the next shift
  • Uphold safety programs in compliance with legislative requirements and the collective agreement
  • Address customer complaints and escalated issues in a professional and timely manner

Requirements / Skills

DHL is seeking a candidate who combines operational know-how with strong leadership ability. The right person will be comfortable navigating aviation regulations, customs processes, and union environments, all while keeping a team focused and motivated under pressure.

  • 3+ years of supervisory or management experience, ideally in warehousing or logistics
  • College or university designation in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods regulations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to obtain a Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC) as per Transport Canada guidelines
  • Experience with Canada Customs and aviation operations is a strong asset
  • Familiarity with lean / process improvement methodologies and prior application in an operational setting
  • Working knowledge of Collective Agreements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Excellent communication skills — both written and oral — along with strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Criminal background check for all countries lived in over the past 5 years is required
