About the Role: Courier Driver

As a Courier Driver with DHL Express, your day revolves around managing a designated delivery route with precision and professionalism. You’ll use a GCA scanner to process waybills and shipments, ensuring all required activities are documented accurately. Deliveries and pickups must be completed within the specific requirements of both DHL’s operational standards and individual customer expectations.

Beyond driving, this role requires strong customer service skills and the ability to represent DHL professionally at all times — from the condition of your vehicle and uniform to how you interact with clients. You’ll also be responsible for heavyweight deliveries, which may involve coordinating third-party providers when needed, and flagging potential sales opportunities or service issues to the appropriate internal teams.

Responsibilities

Day-to-day, a DHL Courier Driver is responsible for executing a reliable route with accuracy and care. Every interaction — whether at a customer’s door or behind the wheel — reflects the standard of service that has made DHL a global leader in express delivery and logistics.

• Scan all shipments using the GCA scanner, including waybills, laser waybills, and shipper bar-coded labels on the daily route
• Deliver all assigned materials within the route area, meeting both customer requirements and DHL service standards
• Complete all assigned pickups in accordance with customer and DHL guidelines
• Verify account validity prior to performing deliveries or pickups
• Compile and submit accurate route records on a daily basis
• Report route irregularities and notable competitor activity to DHL management
• Manage heavyweight deliveries, handling them personally or coordinating third-party providers as required
• Represent DHL professionally at all times, including maintaining your vehicle, uniform, and documentation
• Alert the Sales Department to potential customer opportunities or service vulnerabilities

Requirements / Skills

The ideal candidate is someone with a clean driving record, strong interpersonal skills, and the physical ability to manage demanding deliveries. DHL values team members who are dependable, customer-focused, and capable of handling the dynamic nature of a courier route.

• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence held for a minimum of 18 months with a clean driver’s abstract (no infractions)
• High school education or equivalent
• Proven customer service skills with the ability to proactively manage customer satisfaction
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs unassisted
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with both customers and internal teams
