About the Role: Casual Courier Driver

As a Casual Courier Driver at DHL Express Calgary, you’ll be responsible for completing assigned deliveries and pickups using a van or a 5-ton truck. You’ll also support warehouse operations — sorting inbound freight, scanning shipments, and keeping the warehouse organized and safe. This role requires someone who can handle the physical demands of the job, including lifting parcels up to 70 lbs, and who thrives under tight time constraints.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll split your time between road-based courier duties and warehouse support tasks. Every day brings a mix of customer-facing delivery work and behind-the-scenes freight processing — all of which contribute to DHL’s reputation for on-time, reliable service.

• Drive a van and 5-ton truck to complete assigned deliveries and pickups on schedule
• Lift and carry parcels up to 70 lbs throughout the shift
• Scan and process freight in accordance with agreed procedures and security policies
• Sort and process inbound material accurately and by deadline
• Move freight within the warehouse area as required
• Assist the Tracing Department with warehouse checks for missorts and on-hands
• Complete accurate reporting as needed throughout the shift
• Participate in the organization and clean-up of the warehouse area
• Maintain a safe and cooperative work environment at all times
• Interact with customers both in person and over the phone professionally

Requirements / Skills

DHL is looking for a dependable, physically capable team player who can manage multiple tasks under pressure and take customer interactions seriously. A background in warehouse or courier operations is a strong asset, and a clean driving record is non-negotiable.

• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and stand for long periods of time
• General knowledge of warehouse functions and operations
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team
• Ability to multi-task and work calmly under pressure with tight deadlines
• Minimum one year of warehouse or customer service experience (asset)
• Understanding of First Choice Programs and Global SOPs (asset)
