About the Role: Asset Protection Representative

As an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws, you’ll be on the front lines of protecting store assets and ensuring a safe shopping environment. Your responsibilities span loss prevention, internal investigations, compliance audits, and active collaboration with both store teams and external partners. This is a 40-hour work week with availability required across days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Success in this role depends on your ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations. You’ll need a solid understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada and relevant legislation, and you’ll regularly use CCTV and surveillance systems to support your work. Building strong partnerships with store management through regular meetings and coaching sessions is also a central part of this position.

Responsibilities

The day-to-day work of an Asset Protection Representative at Loblaws is varied and fast-moving. You’ll be actively engaged in deterring theft, conducting investigations, and building meaningful relationships with both store staff and local authorities — all of which directly contribute to the store’s safety and financial health.

• Deter, detect, and apprehend individuals involved in theft and fraud within retail locations
• Collaborate with other Asset Protection Representatives to investigate provincial or national organized retail crime (ORC) cases
• Partner with the local police service on a regular basis
• Detect and investigate internal cases; compile and present evidence for court or arbitration proceedings
• Identify potential shrink opportunities within operational core compliance
• Build and maintain store partnerships through management meetings and huddles; coach and mentor colleagues on Asset Protection policies and procedures
• Participate in conducting store-level audits
• Engage in community events as a representative of the Asset Protection team

• Valid Provincial Security Guard Licence — required to be eligible for this role
• Knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, Trespass to Property Act, and Powers of Arrest
• Experience with CCTV and/or surveillance systems and a working knowledge of Windows-based applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Professional, friendly, and approachable demeanour when engaging with colleagues, customers, and external partners
• High degree of initiative and integrity needed to succeed in a dynamic retail environment
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends
• Candidates 18 years or older must be able to complete a criminal background check
