About the Role: Material Handler
As a Material Handler at DHL Supply Chain in Toronto, you’ll be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of product throughout the facility. The bulk of your day — roughly 90% — involves manual material handling of items up to 50 lbs, while the remaining time involves operating Material Handling Equipment (MHE) such as an Electric Pallet Jack and Counterbalance Truck. You’ll also be responsible for receiving and sorting packages and palletizing them accurately.
The role requires attention to detail when it comes to inbound and outbound product verification — checking for damage, matching product codes, and ensuring orders are fulfilled correctly. You’ll also play a part in keeping the facility clean and equipment in top condition through daily inspections and general housekeeping standards.
Benefits and Salary
This position pays $20.75 per hour. Responsibilities
Working as a Material Handler at DHL Supply Chain means being at the heart of a well-run logistics operation. Your day-to-day work keeps product moving accurately and safely through the warehouse, and your attention to detail ensures customers receive exactly what they ordered.
- Manually handle product weighing up to 50 lbs for approximately 90% of the shift
- Operate MHE including Electric Pallet Jack and Counterbalance Truck for approximately 10% of the shift
- Receive and sort incoming packages and palletize them accurately
- Put away and pick product for shipment or stock, ensuring the correct quantity and type are fulfilled per customer order
- Verify outbound shipments by comparing quantity, quality, labelling, and address details against customer orders
- Inspect product for damage, infestation, and proper code dating on both inbound and outbound loads
- Report discrepancies such as non-available products and OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) items
- Perform daily equipment inspections and change batteries or LP tanks as required
- Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the facility and on all operated equipment
- Assist with physical inventories as needed

- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Forklift certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift training program required within the first 30 days of employment
- Six months of warehouse experience preferred
- Six months of forklift operation experience preferred
- Counterbalance (CB) and Reach/End Rider forklift experience is considered a strong asset
- Ability to physically load product and perform manual material handling throughout the shift
- Strong attention to detail when verifying orders and inspecting product for damage or discrepancies
