About the Role: Loss Prevention Clerk
As a Loss Prevention Clerk, your primary mandate is to protect Costco’s assets from both internal and external threats. You’ll spend a significant portion of your shift walking the warehouse and its perimeter — up to eight hours per day — keeping a watchful eye on operations and identifying risks before they become incidents. When shoplifting or dishonesty is observed, you’ll take appropriate action including detaining suspects, conducting interviews, and preparing formal reports for internal use and potential prosecution.
Teamwork and communication are a big part of this role. You’ll coach warehouse team members on loss prevention policies, exchange information with other Costco LP Clerks in the area, and cooperate with local law enforcement when required — including testifying in court. Responsibilities
This role requires constant vigilance and physical presence throughout the warehouse. From monitoring day-to-day operations to handling sensitive investigations, the Loss Prevention Clerk plays a critical role in keeping the warehouse safe and operationally sound.
- Patrol the warehouse floor and perimeter for up to 8 hours per day to monitor safety and security
- Observe and apprehend shoplifters within Costco locations in accordance with applicable law
- Detain and interview suspects when warranted, following proper legal procedures
- Report internal dishonesty to the Warehouse Manager and Regional Loss Prevention Manager for investigation approval
- Identify shrink reduction opportunities and report findings to management
- Prepare detailed reports for internal use and for potential prosecution of offenders
- Maintain evidence and investigation files with accuracy and confidentiality
- Testify in court regarding theft investigations when required
- Coach and train warehouse team members on loss prevention topics, policies, and procedures
- Communicate and collaborate with other area Costco LP Clerks and local businesses to share information on theft threats
Requirements / Skills
The ideal candidate brings hands-on loss prevention experience and a solid grasp of Canadian criminal and privacy law. Costco values individuals who are calm, observant, and can handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Loss Prevention experience is strongly preferred and will be given priority consideration
- Valid Loss Prevention Licence as required by the Province of Quebec

- High School Diploma or GED preferred
