Responsibilities
The Baker role at Costco is centred around high-volume production and consistent quality. Each shift involves a range of hands-on tasks that require both technical baking skills and a keen eye for detail — from measuring ingredients precisely to safely operating industrial-grade equipment.
- Assemble and measure large quantities of ingredients according to Costco baking formulas, using a calculator to adjust yields as needed
- Operate power equipment including dough rollers, muffin depositors, crust machines, and large power mixers to prepare batters, frostings, and fillings
- Roll, cut, and shape dough for breads and pastry products; transfer raw product to raising rooms
- Bake and monitor products in large ovens, removing finished goods to cooling racks at the appropriate time and feeding dough into automated dough machines
- Monitor sanitation, temperatures, and pull dates in compliance with health codes and Costco safety and security procedures
- Follow department production procedures to ensure quality and consistency of all finished bakery products
- Provide prompt and courteous service to Costco members throughout the shift
- Assist with other bakery duties and warehouse tasks as required
